Artist's Comments

This is a Kermode bear, or a Spirit Bear. They are black bears that are born white, and they hold great significance to the Native people in British Columbia. I think they are just beautiful creatures... the interesting thing is to find a black bear with a white offspirng, or a spirit bear with two black cubs!

This is a gift for my mother in law, who collects bears. I think she'll eventually get sick of me making or drawing bears for her, she gets one almost every holiday, but for now she's getting more bears!

Done in photoshop, took me about six or eight hours? I can't really remember. I started it yesterday.

beautiful! just curious for all your animal paintings, you make a brush for the fur?

also love that necklace and dreamcatcher :D
:iconaurianfae:
No, I don't make a brush for the fur... Usually I use "airbrush pen opacity flow" brush for fur. In fact I usually use it for everything, including skin. ^__^ I find that it layers really well and that I can get streak effects but using a short stroke, and smooth skin-looking effects by using it in small and very light-weight circles.

I know dreamcatchers aren't necessarily native to our area, but I collected so many of them when I was young that I kind of have a special place for them.

Thanks for the comments!

Thank you! I've been doing ok, just going to school and trying to get through this semester with my sanity intact. I haven't been putting as much up on DA, but I think that's mostly because of school. When I'm done with this project I'm working my butt off for right now I will start some more pictures, as I am going to two conventions in September and October and need some new material. :-) Glad to hear from you again!

You're most welcome! Sorry for the late reply :( Sounds like you're quite occupied. So what kind of education is it? I totally recognize myself in that, considering school taking up most of the time/energy. I'll just have to stay tuned and wait for more awesome art from you. Really interesting with conventions and all, sounds like a blast :) And as always it's wonderful to be back here and it makes me glad to hear from you again aswell.

No worries, any reply is a good reply. ^__^ I'm going to school for Interactive Art and Technology, which is basically digital art and all of that. So far it's just remedial classes, as I've got a lot of transfer credits and am right now just trying to get all of the required basic classes done.
